EMARTE – Escola de Música e Arte has officially opened enrolments for the 2026 academic year and proudly announces Anna Luana Tallarita as the new professor of Jazz Singing and the Ethnomusicology Course.
Anna Luana Tallarita is a true Renaissance artist whose career spans multiple disciplines. A jazz singer, author, composer, anthropologist, criminologist, and writer, she has developed a solid artistic and intellectual trajectory that has earned international recognition. Her talent stands out not only in the field of jazz music but also in the visual arts, alongside a strong academic background in anthropology and strategic criminology. In these fields, she has published numerous articles and texts dedicated to the analysis of power, its dynamics, and the human will to act.
Her outstanding career was honored with one of Italy’s most prestigious distinctions: the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, awarded in recognition of her international artistic achievements.
Tallarita is known for her ability to address complex subjects with depth while maintaining an accessible and engaging language. Through books, articles, and regular contributions, she brings knowledge to a wide audience. Often described as a siren, a “three-times woman,” and a master manipulator of the voice, she is widely recognized for her extraordinary musicality and interpretative power.
Educated at renowned universities, including the University of Siena, she studied with influential figures such as Umberto Eco, Paolo Crepet, Dario Fo, and Antonio Tabucchi. She also completed her musical training at Siena Jazz. Throughout her career, she has performed on international stages, recorded albums featuring original and previously unreleased compositions, and collaborated with leading musicians from the Italian and international jazz scenes.
As a visual artist, her work has been featured in catalogues, exhibitions, and galleries. Her literary production spans anthropology, history, and music, reflecting the depth of her intellectual research. At the core of both her artistic and theoretical investigation lies the human mind and the creative process, understood as an expression of individual will in dialogue with the surrounding reality.

Anna Luana Tallarita é uma artista renascentista de múltiplas facetas. Cantora de jazz, autora, compositora, antropóloga, criminóloga e escritora, desenvolveu um percurso artístico e intelectual sólido, reconhecido a nível internacional. O seu talento destacou se tanto na música jazz como nas artes plásticas, a par de uma formação académica consistente em antropologia e criminologia estratégica, áreas nas quais publicou diversos artigos e textos dedicados à análise do poder, das suas dinâmicas e da vontade de ação.
O seu percurso valeu lhe um reconhecimento de grande prestígio com a atribuição do título de Cavaleira da Ordem do Mérito da República Italiana pelos seus méritos artísticos internacionais.
A sua abordagem a temas complexos caracteriza se pela profundidade aliada a uma linguagem acessível, levando o conhecimento ao grande público através de livros, artigos e rubricas. Frequentemente descrita como uma sereia, uma três vezes mulher e uma manipuladora da voz, é reconhecida pela sua extraordinária musicalidade e capacidade interpretativa.
Formada em universidades de referência, nomeadamente em Siena, estudou com figuras marcantes do pensamento e da cultura como Umberto Eco, Paolo Crepet, Dario Fo, Antonio Tabucchi, entre outros, tendo igualmente completado a sua formação no Siena Jazz. Ao longo da sua carreira, atuou em palcos internacionais, gravou álbuns com composições originais e inéditas e colaborou com músicos de grande relevância do panorama jazzístico italiano e internacional.
Enquanto pintora, o seu trabalho integra catálogos, exposições e galerias, e a sua produção literária abrange áreas como a antropologia, a história e a música, refletindo a profundidade da sua investigação intelectual. O eixo central da sua investigação artística e teórica é a mente humana e o processo criativo, entendido como expressão da vontade individual em diálogo com a realidade envolvente.
Na EMARTE, Anna Luana Tallarita partilha este percurso singular através do ensino do canto jazz e da etnomusicologia, integrando prática, reflexão e investigação artística.
